The above video is unfortunately a reality. Toddlers are getting a hold of parents’ guns, not realizing what can happen when they pull the trigger and accidentally harming themselves or another human being. A majority of the time, the toddler, who is three or younger, shoots himself or herself. In fact, in 31 out of 43 cases, the toddler shot himself or herself.

Parents need to take the necessary actions to prevent this from occurring. The first step is for parents to start unloading all guns. The guns should be kept in a location where they’re locked with a key that’s hidden or preferably under a combination, and the ammunition should be kept in another location away from the gun. Another important step parents should take is to inform their children to stay away from guns. They should urge children not to touch them and let an adult know if they find one. However, parents can’t rely on the children listening, so it’s important that the parents take the necessary steps to prevent accidents.
